Whether you are just thinking about buying a house or knee-deep in the process there are at least 3 questions you should ask the agent at an open house:
1. How long has the home been on the market? Length of time can sometimes give you clues to the price. If the house has been on the market a while it may be overpriced. Conversely, a new listing tells you nothing about the price - yet.
2. How much have comparable homes sold for? Regardless of the listing price, the house will likely sell close to the price of similar homes.
3. What is included and excluded in the sale? Knowing if appliances, for example, are included will inform your decision to make an offer. Additionally, You want as few unexpected expenses as possible. You'll want to know if a washer and dryer will be required expenditures on day one of ownership.
